Rent
Rent is a big screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical that tells the story of the lives of a group of young bohemian artists in the East Village, New York, under the shadow of poverty and the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The storyline follows the journey of Mark, an amateur filmmaker, and his friends as they struggle to pay rent while maintaining the integrity of their art and personal relationships. The core of the story moves on the life philosophy of "No Day But Today", where they celebrate love, friendship and community amidst the tragedy of loss and uncertainty of the future. This conflict is deepened by the tension between their idealism and the pressure of commercialization from the outside world that threatens their home. Will the bond they build be able to survive against time and the disease that is slowly eating away at the circle of friends?
